The Faraday Centre is proud to have its own Tesla Coil to demonstrate the effects of high voltage electricity. This coil was provided through the generosity of the Matthews Family in memory or Ray Matthews who was for many years Chief Engineer of the Napier Municipal Electricity Department which supplied power to the City of Napier and operated the power station which the Faraday Centre now occupies.

Our Tesla coil has proved to be a very popular and exciting exhibit. It is operated during school holidays at specified times.
